Fairy Princess Parties were invited to attend the wonderful Relay For Life by one of our friends Sallyann, she herself is a cancer survivor and since has helped raise thousands of pounds towards the charity. Sallyann is part of a team called Lewis Angels and together they go to all different charity events for Cancer Research trying to help raise money. They go to Windsor & Ascot racecourse, stand outside supermarkets and do everything they can to help raise money for this very worthy cause.
We have done a couple events with them now, The Snow Sisters went to Windsor racecourse on their family fun day, we helped raise almost £500 which was fantastic. Most recently we attended the Relay For Life, this is a 24 hour event in which lots of different teams enter. They have a track and at least 1 member of your team has to be walking on the track at all times. The teams stay there over night, some of them bring tents to pitch up and other relax in their gazebo with food and drink, then take it in turns to do the relay. This requires serious dedication to the cause so well done to Lewis Angels for taking part in it.
We came along in the evening to meet the children, they had a stage set up with different events and acts on all day/night. They had Ascot’s got talent, line dancing, bands singing etc. Fairy Princess Parties got up with all the children to sing. We sung the popular ‘Do you want to build a snowman’ and of course the world famous ‘Let it go’. It was an incredible experience, we had so many children up on stage with us singing at the top of their voices and everyone watching us. We had a lot of fun, then we did a few laps of the track with the children. After a busy day of parties it was time for The Snow Sisters to go home.
In the evening they light candles in bags with messages on them to remember people who have passed away and also for the survivors. They then place these all around the track and it looks very pretty. At 10pm they did a ceremony of hope, which included a minute silence to remember loved ones lost, speeches and poems are read out, then a few songs were performed.
Most of us know a loved one or a friend who has been effected by this awful disease and with everybody’s help in working together, hopefully one day we really will find a cure and all the hard work and effort put in will be all worthwhile.
Well done to Lewis Angels for their constant hard work and determination, thank you so much for inviting us.
Please help them by showing your support and donating to their page, we would really appreciate it: Donate to Lewis Angels
